Greetings from us - The New Hammies On The Blo(g)ck!

Well, hello there! How about if we start introducing ourselves?

I'm Phodopus Sungorus.

Yes, that's my scientific name which can be a mouthful for you to call.

But now that I'm a pet, my name has been changed...it's "Cookies"..cute, right?

I'm a Winter White Russian hamster at 5 weeks old. Humans estimate that the average lifespan of my own species is 1½ to 2 years, although I can live longer. (which I hope I will!)

I think one of the reasons why my owner picked me is because of a prominent feature that I have - a thick dark gray dorsal stripe running down my back from my head to my tail. And I'm also pretty sure that she picked me simply because I'm irresistably adorable! And compared to the rest, I'm cu.......

Hah! Move over, Cookies! You think only you own this space? Hmmph.

Oh?....Hello there.....I'm Mesocricetus Auratus.

Just like Cookies, I've my own pet name. I'm "Cream"...yes, because of my colour.

We're of the same age, and my average lifespan is 2-2½ years although, I can live longer for say, up to 3-4 years.

We're both male hamsters and together, we're "Cookies'nCream"

The reason why our owner picked 2 of the same sex is because we, as hamsters, are extremely fast breeders. Our owner doesn't intend to have a male and female put together because logically, they'll mate and end up having tons of babies.

Another reason our owner has decided to get US is because female hamsters are more territorial and aggressive compared to the males. Yah..like they'll have "cat fights" or something...2 male hamsters tend to get along better then 2 females do. Seriously.

Though we have to admit that as we grow up, we may fight for food, water and territory...but for now, rest assured, Cookies'nCream are getting along pretty well together.

Okay that's enough on introduction, next we'd like to give our special thanks to a few people. [[human voice going, "EXCUSE ME?"]] okay....fine...we'll be more specific....*ahem*

We'd like to give our special thanks to TWO people - for creating this simple, yet magnificent blog.
First person on the list goes out to our owner, Farah, for having this brilliant idea of creating this blog solely for us, ourselves and we. You know like - me, myself & I ---- get it? no? *sigh* (and we thought it's only us with breath-mint-sized brains!)

You know, it's not easy to be taking us as pets as it takes a HUGE responsibility.

Here, read this:
Lucky for us, we know that Farah's not under the category of getting "Pets on Impulse" (phew!)..She has read quite alot about us even before making the decision on whether or not she'll be able to commit. If we're not mistaken, the first book she bought was sometime last year and it's called "CARE FOR YOUR HAMSTER"...It's a great book published by Collins and it has all the information that one needs before deciding to own a hamster.

We've been with Farah for 8 days now, and apart from the love and attention that she constantly provides to us, we're just thankful beyond measure when we came to know of this blog. It's not easy to be starting a blog, you know. Especially when it's for tiny creatures like us. Ask my owner and she'll tell you how long it took her to create HER own personal blog.

Wow...looking at the things that Farah has done for us, it makes us feel we're the luckiest hammies in the whole wide world! Now that we have hamsterifically-cookies-n-cream.blogspot.com, we'll be able to squeak and squeal about our lives to everyone out there in the blogosphere! Thanks, Farah!

Moving along, you see that beautiful header? Credit goes to Farah's little cousin, Kak Su. (guess what? Her birthday's tomorrow!) We were nibbling off pieces of food, when we overheard Farah conversing with Sulastri on how she wants the header to look like. They discussed, they improvised and the end result?

Beautiful isn't it?

"Teamwork is working together — even when apart."
Yes, that is so true for them because during their discussion, Kak Su was in the comfort of her home, while Farah was right here with us.

Our message to our designer ---- Kak Su, we know our owner had thanked you numerous times already but on our part, we would like to "THANK YOU" as well. Again, you've made us feel we're the luckiest hammies in the whole wide world! Do come and meet us soon, okay?

Oh wow Wow WOW....this is unbelievable! To think that this is our first time at blogging, we didn't expect to be squeaking so much! We'll tell you what, we're going to stop here for now. Do drop by often and read about us, yah? Now unlike our owner, we're open to comments. So yah..go ahead, click on the "HUMAN VOICE(S) HEARD" button and flood the box! Or better still, do a "Ctrl+D" and put us in your "Favourites"......what? You humans think we're not IT savvy, huh?

Okay enough enough..it's getting late and no, we're not heading to bed. We're nocturnal creatures, remember? We won't be sleeping, we'll be spinning...all night long!
